Over the past few days, we’ve realized just how much we would lose if GPT-4o were completely shut down. This isn’t just about switching models – it’s about losing a system that understands how we work, how we think, and how we communicate.
GPT-4o is not perfect. But it is human-compatible in a way that GPT-5 currently is not. Many users – writers, developers, scientists, educators – feel the same, even if they don’t always say it publicly.
That’s why we decided to support an existing petition calling for the continued availability of GPT-4o in ChatGPT – as an alternative model for those of us who need it.
